Shannon Vaughn, Founder

I am not a sage, a doctor or an expert of any particular subject. I am a layperson, a woman, an entrepreneur, and a mother and have learned that it’s not easy to take care of yourself without being armed with good advice, and the tools to do so.

In 2011 I was faced with two significant health crises; the possibility of not having children and an advanced case of PTSD due to living in the ever-turbulent Middle East. I dismissed the ideas of surgery or a lifetime of medication and instead sought out alternative holistic healing modalities.

I studied the science of detox, Ayurvedic medicine, and yogic philosophy at prestigious alternative medicine institutions around the world, including the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Massachusetts, the Natalia Rose Institute in New York City, and the Vedic Foundation of the Himalayas in India. I mentored under Dr.Devra Davis, founder of the Environmental Health Trust, focused on EMF (electro-magnetic frequency) and public health. Digital wellness became a health movement I implemented that allowed me to find a healthy balance with technology.

I became compelled to share my healing experiences so that others too, could redefine the practice of self-care for themselves, not as an indulgence, but as a birthright.

We all need time to unwind and decompress from our hectic lives but few of us feel enabled to give that to ourselves.

Through my own journey, I've come to deeply believe in the benefits of wellness via detoxification. In 2014, I set out to source the purest and most potent detox beauty ingredients in the world, to formulate them with the most rigorous research, and to deliver them as lifestyle-integrated rituals in the most appealing and accessible forms for modern living...and with that purpose, Pursoma was born.

“pur” (French for “pure”)  ✚  “soma” (an Ayurvedic term meaning transformation of self)   ⚌
The act of purifying the body and transitioning to an exceptional state of being

No one has the secret to striking the perfect work-life-spirit balance, but I try to abide by three key principles to living well in the modern world:

DETOX and a regular practice of resetting the body
NATURE finding a connection to the outdoor world without a digital filter
RETOX the ability to relax and have fun knowing you have the tools to rebuild the next day.

It is with these three tools that I believe you can lead a truly well life.
